Punxsutawney Phil? In California, We Ask Che the California Chipmunk!
People! If you live anywhere west of the Grand Canyon, do not concern yourself with that crazy overcoddled plumpenheimer who goes by the name of Punksa-tawney Phil!! Around these parts, we ask a far more reliable, and if I do say so myself, far more ATTRACTIVE critter named CHE THE CALIFORNIA CHIPMUNK about our weather forecast. You may still call it Groundhog’s day, but please do not insult the Western states further by quoting after the prognostications of a miniscule hairy hippo! (Lives on Gobbler’s Knob — no kidding!)
Che the California Chipmunk runs five miles everyday; eats sprouts, yogurt, and nuts (Atkins of course); and hangs at the beach
when he’s not starting up high technology ventures. We consulted with Che this morning at his home in Monterey Bay, California, where Che the California Chipmunk DID NOT, I repeat, DID NOT SEE HIS SHADOW! This is no doubt attributable to our continuing reliance on petroleum-based energy sources, but don’t blame Che! He just reports it like he sees it. So enjoy the California sun. Get out and mountain bike, surf, hike, run, or just lay about at the beach. It’s all good. :)
